Thriller
I remember seeing this book everywhere a few years back.
At home, book in hand, I read what it was about and immediately thought that it would not make for my kind of reading. It sounded like it just wouldn’t be my thing. I like action, adventure, fast-paced escapism from anything everyday, but I turned to the first page to see and I’ll fairly say that it hooked me in from…
…the start. It’s not just the story that invests you, it’s the characters who are exceptionally well written. You can believe these people would exist even though many are flawed. In fact, it’s the flaws that may even make them more believable. You become emotionally connected with many of them – you’re happy when things go well, you’re sad when things don’t. You want things to be ok but you know it can’t always be like that.
I won’t spoil anything so I’ll just say it keeps you wanting to read more right through to the bittersweet ending. An exceptionally well-written book. I can see what all the fuss was about.
