The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder by David Grann – Short Review

Non-fiction / Naval History

I found this book interesting, detailed, and introduced me to an event (the shipwreck of the Wager) during a time that I don’t know much about (the War of Jenkin’s Ear).
I like to read a healthy amount of both fiction and non-fiction and having seen this book mentioned positively…

…I gave it a go. One thing people have already commented on is the detail of the research which appears to be very thorough and you learn a lot about seafaring during this time period. The writing, though decent enough, does not particularly suck you in. As highly as other people rate this, I can’t with a good conscience give it more than three out of five which I feel to be a fair score. As always with reviews though others may find it differently. It’s an ok read and it passed the time.
