WW2 / Thriller

I like a good thriller. An exciting backdrop for our characters folds out for us in this one: the V2 program. One character part of the allied team tracking down the launch sites, one character part of the group who are launching the things. It has all the ingredients for an exciting page turner, a game of cat and mouse, high stakes, and behind it all are our two characters with their…
…own lives and inner thoughts. With all of this, I would really really want to rate this higher but the writing just feels so flat. The characters go through and have been through specific things in the book which are explained to the reader at various points and should invest you more in them but the writing never quite drives that home in the way it should. The overarching story itself is dramatic but again the flat writing lets it down. Such a serious subject with grave consequences for the characters should really suck you in more. Readable but a little disappointing.
